Cazul Jobbik / Jobbik Subject

Cazul Jobbik.

1. De ce le-ati permis pana acum sa afecteze integritatea statului roman?;

2. Ce avantaje ati avut ?;

3. De ce luati atitudine tocmai acum, dle presedinte Basescu?;

Jobbik subject. What is this all about? Well, it is a problem with a Hungarian extremist leader who insists on straining the Romanian-Hungarian relations, by saying things that affect Romanian’s integrity and image. The President of Jobbik Party, Vona Gabor, has declared at Hungarian Youth Camp in Ardeal (Erdelyi Magyar Ifjak-EMI), Harghita, that his party (opposition party in Hungary m.n.) will defend the rights and interests of Hungarians from Transilvania (part of Romania m.n.) even this will generate a conflict with Romanian state.

It is not the first time when the Hungarian autonomy is tried to be established in a „national, sovereign and independent, united and indivisible state [Romanian Constitution, art.1(1)], but this time, there were reactions from both sides:

The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs has asked Hungary to go back on what Gabor had said. In answer to Romania’s request, the officials from Budapest had set out that Vona Gabor is part of the opposition party and he does not represent the interests of Hungarian Government. Moreover, the Hungarian Government is engaged in maintaining the strategic partnership with Romania and does not bear the Extreme Right leader’s position.

Social Democrat Party deputy, Bogdan Diaconu, is asking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to declare Vona Gabor, persona non-grata and he made an arraignment as a consequence of Jabbik leader’s affirmations. As the statements were not made on Romanian ground, MAE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs m.n.) cannot take such actions, but criticize the affirmations and the instigation made by Gabor.

The President of UDMR (Hungarian formation within the Romanian Parliament), Kelemen Hunor, had said his party do not sustain this „non-senses” of Vona Gabor.

What I find really interesting is that even Democrat-Liberal Party (PDL) has awaken from its lethargic state and seems not to have Extreme Hungary’s back (is this because there is no campaign interest? were not they the ones that wanted to assure Hungarians from Romania autonomy?); the President of PDL claims that Romania should no longer allow this Gabor, „sick person” as he called him, to come into our country because of his irresponsible statements.

Even President of Romania, Traian Basescu had made a statement while visiting Izvorul Muresului, in Harghita. Despite the fact that he should have reacted sooner if not being the first to act against such an individual, as he „represents the Romanian state and he is the safeguard of national independence, unity and territorial integrity of the country [Romania Constitution, art80(1)], Basescu has made some rough comments regarding Jabbik leader: „Romania will assume the leadership of bringing Budapest to its level” (from a diplomatic point of view, this affirmations tension even more the relation with the Hungarian officials who already condemned Vano Gabor’s declarations). Moreover, the fake-president, Traian Basescu (more than 70 % of Romanians have vote in favor of his resignation, but he digs his feet in staying in this position m.n.) said that this year (2013 m.n.) will be the last one in which Hungarian politicians will be able to walk with no restrictions in Romania, as press agency MEDIAFAX writes.

Most tragic affirmation of all is that Traian Basescu said that „This year they have reached the level when I say to them: it is too much”. Ding! Now we have some questions:

1. Why have you let this extremists run free, affecting our country’s integrity so far?

2. What profit did you have?

3. Why do you stand now, so late, president Basescu?

4. Why not an official diplomatic statement from The Presidency?

P.S. The reactions of Romanian officials and politicians are welcomed if they turn out to be precise, consistent, all in the same key and made in an appropriate political-diplomatic circumstance, without having a negative impact on Romanian-Hungarian relations but also defending the integrity and independence of Romania.
